Tigerwood – also know with name Muiracatiara – is a tropical hardwood from South America with strength class D40 and durability class 1. This type of wood is known as one of the most durable hardwood species in the world. In addition to this huge plus, tigerwood hardwood also looks very beautiful. Tigerwood is often used in the construction of swimming pools and terraces because this type of wood can last up to 20 years. As a result, an tgerwood decking is cheap in the long term. Read more.

Hardydeck decking boards are fixed with invisible stainless steel clips and thus without visible screws. This is not only more beautiful, but also a lot safer. When constructing a deck, make sure that you use hardwood girders; this extends the life of your deck considerably. Space between the boards is essential for good drainage. This spacing is automatically secured by the clips. All technical information at a glance:

Thickness: 21mm
Width: 140mm
Species: tiger wood / comes from South America
Botanical name: Astronium spp. Other names: South America muiracatiara, tigerwood
Classification 1 in terms of durability.
Tiger wood remains an essential species and very well suited for outdoor works.
Quality: 1st Choice
Drying: KD (wood dried before molding)
Color: red rose with tiger stripes
Tigerwood is a particularly interesting specie for deckings: if the wood is dried, the risk of deformation or cracks are modest, and the dimensional variations not very significant. Therefore we exclusively sell KD (wood dried before molding)
Under the influence by U.V. light, the wood will gradually gray to take on a silvery gray. This natural process does not affect the quality of your wooden deck. To slow down the evolution of this process, there are different treatment products such as saturators and UV protectors.

Total costs of constructing a deck

Not only color, durability and ease of installation is important, also the financial aspect of the investment. Because Tigerwood has a long lifespan, it requires little maintenance. Compared to cheaply impregnated wood, it has to be replaced 3 times for the total lifespan of tigerwood. Because labor costs are high, a deck made of tigerwood hardwood is ultimately cheaper.
