why is ipe the best hardwood

ipé hardwood is extremely durable: ipé wood is very resistant to moisture, fungi and splintering, which means it can easily last 25 to 30 years.

Ipe decking boards are maintenance-friendly. To keep an Ipé terrace in optimum condition, it is best to clean it once or twice a year. The wood will turn gray if you leave the decking boards untreated. This has no influence on the quality and the lifespan. Graying of the wood can be prevented by staining the boards with an oil or varnish. Make sure that the oil/varnish has a UV filter. It is the UV rays that gray the wood.

Ipé is weather resistant and durable. Ipé is a durable and a very hard wood. An Ipé terrace therefore shows little or no signs of wear.

Dense structure. Thanks to the dense structure and the closed grain, the wood absorbs little or no moisture and dirt. For example, with a terrace in Ipé you have much less chance of slipperiness.

Shrink and expand. Unlike most other types of wood, Ipé will barely shrink and expand.

Invisible fastening of the boards. Hardydeck ipé decking boards are fastened with stainless steel clips. The decking boards can be attached to the supporting structure with ‘invisible’ clips. This way you won’t see any metal screws and your terrace will look very stylish. read more
